The Brief

DDN, in collaboration with NVIDIA and Supermicro, needed a mobile experience that could bring the scale of AI infrastructure to life — outside the data center. The activation had to launch at NVIDIA GTC in San Jose, then transition immediately into a nationwide mobile tour hitting major tech and enterprise markets.

The requirements were extreme: a fully immersive interior with a 33-foot micro LED video wall, multiple interactive touchscreen systems, a rooftop hospitality deck, and modular branding that could be updated between stops. The vehicle had to be street legal, deployable in a single day, and capable of supporting multi-day activations at each location.

The timeline: 45 days from concept to GTC launch.

The Challenge

Most mobile activations at this scale take 3–4 months and require five or six vendors: one for the vehicle, one for fabrication, one for AV, one for graphics, one for logistics. Each handoff creates delays, miscommunication, and quality variance. On a 45-day timeline, that model does not work.

The project also demanded a level of AV integration rarely seen in mobile environments. A 33′ x 7′ micro LED wall is a permanent-installation-grade display being installed inside a trailer that drives on highways. The structural engineering, power infrastructure, and thermal management had to be solved from scratch — there is no off-the-shelf solution for this.

On top of that, the activation needed to be modular. Graphics, content, and interior configurations had to be changeable between tour stops without structural rework. DDN, NVIDIA, and Supermicro each had branding requirements that needed to coexist in a single environment.

The NVS Approach

NVS Visuals was the single vendor for the entire project. We own the 38-foot glass expandable trailer. We operate the fabrication shop. We run the print facility. We handle AV integration. We deploy the vehicle and manage tour logistics.

That vertical integration is what made 45 days possible. There were no vendor negotiations, no approval chains between companies, no shipping delays between facilities. Design, engineering, fabrication, printing, AV install, and QA all happened under one roof in Ridgewood, NY.

Key Decisions

BeMatrix with glow-edge integration: We selected BeMatrix modular framing as the structural system because it allows rapid graphic swaps without any structural changes. The glow-edge integration adds dynamic lighting to the frame system itself — so branding shifts don’t require rewiring or refabrication.

Micro LED over projection: At 33′ x 7′, the video wall needed to perform in full daylight through the glass walls. Projection would have failed. Micro LED delivered the brightness, resolution, and reliability required — and NVS handled the full integration including power, data, and mounting.

Rooftop as activation space: Rather than treating the roof as dead space, we fabricated a full hospitality deck with seating, branded umbrellas, and audio. This effectively doubled the activation footprint and created a second engagement zone visible from street level.

The Execution — 45 Days

Days 1–7 Concept finalization, engineering specs, material sourcing, BeMatrix order
Days 8–21 Structural fabrication — framing, ceiling, louvers, architectural elements, rooftop deck build
Days 15–28 AV infrastructure — power systems, LED wall mounting, kiosk integration, data wiring (overlapping with fabrication)
Days 22–35 Graphics production — full interior and exterior wraps, modular graphic panels, environmental branding
Days 30–40 Interior finishing — furniture install, lighting, sound, climate systems, interactive content programming
Days 40–45 QA, final walk-through, transport to San Jose, GTC setup

Overlapping workstreams are only possible when one team controls every discipline. Fabrication, AV, and graphics ran in parallel because the same project managers coordinated all three — no waiting on external vendors, no shipping between facilities.

The Tour

The AI Factory Tour launched at NVIDIA GTC in San Jose, CA and continued through San Francisco. The tour is currently active and heading to Boston in May 2026, with additional nationwide stops planned through the year.

NVS handles all tour logistics including transport via our 2026 Mack Pioneer tractor, permitting, on-site setup and strike, and crew coordination at every stop. The modular graphic system means branding and content can be refreshed between markets without returning to the shop.
