Pop-Up Shops Built
to Open on Day One
Pop-Up Shop Design & Build in NYC
NVS Visuals designs, builds and installs retail pop-up shops for brand marketing teams and the agencies behind them. We take an empty leased storefront and turn it into a store that is ready to sell on opening day: fixtures and shelving, merchandising walls, cash wraps and POS counters, fitting and sampling rooms, facade and window takeovers, signage, lighting and AV. When the run ends, we strike it and hand the space back the way your lease requires.
Design, fabrication, large-format print and installation all happen in-house, under one roof, with one project manager from first render to final strike. We build pop-up stores across New York City and deliver and install nationwide.
We are the production partner behind experiential and PR agencies — Care of Chan, Known, LaForce, Small Girls PR and X Projects — and we work directly with brand teams in fashion, beauty, food and beverage, tech and lifestyle.

Morgan Julia Design
Morgan Julia Design × X Projects — Newspaper Pop-Up Shop in a Manhattan Storefront
Working with the creatives at X Projects, we turned a Manhattan storefront into a living newspaper for Morgan Julia Design. NVS was the lead partner from concept through fabrication, print and on-site execution.
The centerpiece was a custom coffee counter built to look like a New York newspaper stand — designed for quick setup and tight clearances, serving coffee while doubling as a design feature. Around it we installed vinyl wall wraps, precision-cut window decals and wheatpaste-style posters, replaced the original awnings with custom-printed fabric, hung branded flags, and built a moving window display with canvases suspended at different heights. Out front, a vintage checkered cab with a custom topper became the photo booth.
Every element was designed, printed and fabricated under one roof.

Amika × Activate — Retail Pop-Up
Three-day retail pop-up: color/white/color facade vinyls, mirror decals, 8′ × 10′ canvases and Pantone-matched paint — prep, paint and graphics installed within 12 hours, then repainted white after the event.

KFC Sundays — Storefront Takeover
With Small Girls PR, the KFC at 14th Street & Second Ave became a new restaurant for National Chicken Sandwich Day — loaded in at midnight, open at 7am, struck at 7pm.

CARE.org × Known — Highline Nine
Full takeover of the Highline Nine gallery space, with a custom beMatrix arch that turned a rounded storefront facade into the CARE Package® box.
What Goes Into
a Pop-Up Shop Build
A pop-up store has to look like a flagship and work like a store from the first hour. These are the pieces we design, fabricate and install for retail pop-ups — usually all of them, under one contract.

Fixtures, Shelving & Merchandising Walls
Brand-colored shelving, product displays, pedestals and wall systems built around the product you need to sell. Fixtures are CNC-routed, built and finished in our shop so they arrive ready for merchandise.

Cash Wraps & POS Counters
Checkout counters and cash wraps sized for your POS hardware, bag storage and line, finished to match the rest of the store so the point of sale feels like part of the brand.

Fitting, Sampling & Service Counters
Fitting and try-on rooms, sampling counters, coffee bars and service kiosks — like the newspaper-stand coffee counter we built for Morgan Julia Design.

Facade & Window Takeovers
Storefront murals, window graphics and film, fabric awnings, marquees and signage that make a leased storefront read as your store from across the street. For KFC Sundays we wrapped the facade in a 36′ × 17′ mural and covered the existing sign with a custom LED marquee.

Wall & Floor Graphics, Paint
Vinyl wall and floor graphics, wallpaper, murals, mirror decals and paint, all printed and applied by our own crew. For Amika we painted the space to custom Pantone colors and repainted it neutral white after the event.

Lighting, LED & Photo Moments
Lighting, LED frames and walls, sound and the photo moment guests come to share — like the 8′ × 10′ LED wall and billboard bench we built for KFC Sundays.
From Signed Lease to Opening Day
1. Brief & site survey
We review your brief, floor plan and lease conditions, survey the storefront, and develop mood boards, layout concepts and 3D renderings.
2. Design approval
We present fixture systems, materials, graphics and AV options with clear trade-offs against your budget, then lock shop drawings.
3. Fabrication & print
Fixtures, graphics and AV prep run in parallel in our shop under one project manager — no handoffs between a fabricator, a print house and an installer.
4. Install & opening day
Our crews install structures, fixtures, graphics, lighting and AV and hand over a store ready for product and staff.
5. Strike & restoration
When the run ends, we strike, remove graphics, repaint where needed and return the storefront for its next use.
How long does a pop-up shop take?
Simple branded environments can be ready in 1–2 weeks; full multi-room builds with AV typically take 3–6 weeks from design approval. When the date can’t move, we compress: Tatcha’s pavilion at Grand Central was fabricated in seven days and installed in one, and KFC Sundays went from midnight load-in to doors open at 7am.

What Does a Pop-Up
Shop Cost in NYC?
Every pop-up shop is scoped to its brief, storefront and run, but here is where most NVS projects land:
Branded pop-up shop or space takeover — $150,000 to $400,000+
A fabricated store in a leased storefront, venue or gallery: design, fixtures, graphics, AV, install and strike.
Single-day mobile pop-up — from about $50,000
One of our vehicles built out, wrapped and run for the day. See mobile pop-ups.
Multi-city pop-ups and tours — quoted per market
Priced on the number of markets, run length and staffing.
Permits, licensing, venue fees, insurance and security are scoped separately — we price them up front. What moves the number most: footprint, how many fixtures are custom, facade work, AV, run length and the restoration your lease requires.
Leased Storefronts: Built In, Handed Back
A pop-up shop lives inside someone else’s lease. We plan the build around what the space has to look like on the day you return the keys:
• Facade and windows — murals, film, awnings and signage that come off clean at strike
• Walls and floors — painted to your Pantone, wrapped in vinyl or wallpaper, then removed and repainted at the end
• Existing signage and fixtures — covered rather than removed, as with the LED marquee we built over KFC’s existing sign
• Strike and restoration — scheduled to your lease; KFC Sundays was struck at 7pm and the restaurant returned to its original condition
We prioritize removable, recyclable materials and are proud members of MUSE.

Pop-Up Shop FAQs
How much does a pop-up shop cost in NYC?
Most branded pop-up shops and space takeovers we build run $150,000 to $400,000+, depending on footprint, fixtures, facade work, AV and run length. Single-day mobile pop-ups start around $50,000, and multi-city programs are quoted per market. Permits, licensing, venue fees, insurance and security are scoped separately — we price them up front.
How long does it take to build a pop-up shop?
Simple branded environments can be ready in 1–2 weeks; full multi-room builds with AV typically take 3–6 weeks from design approval. When the opening date can’t move we go faster: the Tatcha pavilion at Grand Central was fabricated in seven days and installed in one.
Can you build out a leased storefront and restore it?
Yes. We plan every build around how the space has to be returned. For Amika we painted the storefront to custom Pantone colors and repainted it neutral white after the event; for KFC Sundays we struck the takeover at 7pm and returned the restaurant to its original condition.
Do you design the pop-up shop, or only build it?
Both. If you have a concept, we engineer and build it. If you are earlier than that, our team develops mood boards, layout concepts and 3D renderings, then takes the design through fabrication, print, install and strike.
Can you help find and secure a pop-up location?
Yes, we provide location scouting and can coordinate directly with property owners.
Do you work with agencies?
Yes — much of our retail work comes through agencies. We are the build partner behind Care of Chan, Known, LaForce, Small Girls PR and X Projects, and we also work directly with brand marketing teams.
